This was a tremendous success even though the weather was
foul. Of the 10 intrepid climbers that started we are pleased
to announce that 7 of them made the summit. The day was wet,
cold and miserable so anyone that even started deserves a
massive pat on the back and a big WELL DONE!
Once we have the total we will let you know but we can already
tell you that the final sum is way beyond what we expected.
Once we have everyone's photo's we will put a slide show up
so that you can see just how bad it was. |

| Unofrtunately the parks staff were forced to cancel this event.
They left it until 5pm the day before but a ground inspection
confirmed their fears that it was unsuitable for the event. |

Pobs Trophy
This was the 5th annual charity football tournament
taking place, as usual, at Huncote Sports and Social Club. This
years event was sponsored by NEXT and LCFC as well as a host
of other local businesses and invididuals and Filbert Fox paid
a visit as well as the Everyclick Mouse. The standard of the
football was higher than ever and the increased number of stalls
made it a real family day out. The organisors will not have
a final total for a few weeks but it looks as though TLC could
be getting in excess of £2000. For pictures of the event
and all of the scores visit Pob's
Trophy web site. |

Love Parks Day
We all had a great day out at Abbey Park for their
"Love Parks Love Life" event. The day started with
a fantastic response to our sponsored walk and, once we have
all of the sponsorship money in we will let you all know how
much you raised. Following this our volunteers helped with the
final planting of The Laura Centre garden. This is a beautiful
quiet spot where you can sit and reflect amongst the beautiful
roses. Check out the pic' of the empty plant pots to see how
many they planted. Whilst all of this was going on we were also
in the Multi Agency marquee where we were spreading the word
about The Laura Centre. A great big thank you to all who helped
and supported us on that day. Click on the picture to see a
few photos from the day. |

| TRUSTEE VACANCY –TREASURER
The Laura Centre is a medium sized registered charity covering
the East Midlands and based in the centre of Leicester. We
offer support and counselling to anyone who has lost a child
and to any child or young person (up to 25) who has been bereaved.
The organisation is one of only three offering similar work
in the UK.
The Centre sees over 300 people per year and has 14 staff.
The Board of Trustees currently has a vacancy for a Treasurer
who will take responsibility for an annual budget of approx
£400,000 and play an important role in the strategic
planning of the Charity.
This is an interesting time to join the organisation. The
Trustees are keen to pursue expansion of the service but in
the current climate assessment of the financial risks to the
organisation need to be robust and the Treasurer would play
a key role in this.
The Board meet 6-8 times per year including whole service
planning days. The Treasurer would also be expected to work
closely initially with the Chief Executive Officer in reviewing
the financial procedures of the organisation and establishing
a budget for the next financial year.

| The Ladies Luncheon was a tremendous success and helped
us raise much needed funds. The meal was absolutely fantastic
and was rounded off nicely with an interesting and humorous
address by our guest speaker Rosemary Conley. To remember
the day we took a series of photographs which you can see
by clicking on the icon on the right. If you would like a
photograph we can supply an 8" x 10" print for the
reasonable cost of £6.00 which includes postage and
packing. If you would like to place an order all we need is
the picture number and, of course, the money. please send
your order to Tony here at The Laura Centre. You
can e-mail him at tony@thelauracentre.org.uk |

The Laura Centre on EBAY
The Laura Centre is now part of the charity community on the
EBAY auction site and can receive donations via the web site
as well as sell directly. The system works in a
very simple way and can even be used even with the Turbo Lister
which allows experienced users to get their goods on line
more quickly.
To start donating a percentage of your successful EBAY sales
to The Laura Centre you must first elect us as your chosen
charity and then register (once only) with Mission Fish, an
organization dedicated to supporting charities through EBAY.
It really is a simple way of supporting your favourite charity
but to help you we have prepared a pdf document which you
can download by clicking on the link to the right. Alternatively
you can click
here to go direct to the information page on EBAY.
