New Course - WORKING WITH LOSS
A Short Course in Therapeutic Bereavement Support Skills
(Accredited by University of Leicester)

Course Aims
• To explore the use of therapeutic skills in bereavement
support
• To introduce delegates to bereavement counselling either
as early career counsellors or experienced counsellors
• To enable delegates to become familiar with the issues that
arise in bereavement counselling through lecture, small group work,
case studies and reflection
in their personal journal.
What skills will you gain?
By the end of the course delegates should be able to:
• Demonstrate their understanding of the difference between
counselling and other forms of helping
• Demonstrate through role-play their knowledge and application
of counselling skills in grief work
• Demonstrate an understanding of the differences and similarities
in grieving adults, children, couples and families
• Identify the factors that can lead to a complicated grief
reaction
• Demonstrate the use of discreet techniques in role-play
grief work
